very well built and it does a great job
Easy to assemble and a great help in the yard
Good quality. I got this unit to replace the one that I wore out.
The name beast fits.Starts easy and does a great job. However its a little top heavy. Nothing a careful owner cant handle. Only used about 10 hours so far, but well pleased.
Great product so far. Shipping handled well. Very happy.
Absolutely perfect for clearing broken limbs and branches around the yard. Starts right up, eats through pretty much anything that fits down the shoot and is easy to move around my property. Only issue that you should be aware of is that there cannot be ANYTHING in the shoot or else the belt will break/burn. Other than that I love it and would highly recommend. Very high quality.

This chipper does the job, but it is heavy and can be difficult to move to different locations.
It's not cheap or light, but it does rapidly chew through an impressive amount of hardwood. I've been clearing mixed brush, from small branches to 2-3 inch birch, alder, and willow, and everything that fits into the feed chute gets chipped down into nice little wood chips with no hesitation. I've mostly been running the thing hanging off the end of my pickup bed, so the chips get sprayed down into a wheelbarrow, but doing this does make it a bit harder to reach the feed chute, and some of the wood chips will occasionally fly out with enough force to ding the paint in the wheelbarrow. I've ignored the leaf chute so far, since leaves are the least of my worries.
One trick on shutting the thing down: first grab the throttle linkage right above the starter rope/fan assembly (see photo), and push it toward the carburetor to stop the gas, then switch off the spark. If you just switch off the spark, the mechanical governor gives the engine maximum gas as it spins down, so it runs too rich for the last few seconds, spitting a little black smoke and making a hard and smoky start the next time you run it. If you stop the gas first, it starts right back up without even touching the choke.
This is The CH17 (2017 year model). I bought this chipper/shredder in July of 2017 and only got to use it for a few hours. Then it went to storage while our house was being built.
Now, July of 2019. It came out of storage and we began chipping and shredding some of the bush that we are clearing around the house, and using the mulch for our chickens and around the plants at the front porch. After roughly 10 hours over 3 days the clutch assembly pulley broke at the weld. I have since read on the Home Depot website "Ask a question about this product" page. "Is there still a problem with the pulley breaking at the weld..." I called customer service at GXI, about my clutch assembly pulley breaking at the weld. Since the machine is out of warranty they offered to sell me a clutch assembly at a reduced price.
Customer service was great, they even called back on the fourth of July weekend to see if they could be of further assistance.
I have not use the Brush Master a this time
