This chipper shredder comes with a BRUSH MASTER 11 HP engine. It features a 2-way feed including a discharge chute. This innovative chipper is designed with an adjustable deflector. The deflect provides multiple angles that can discharge directly into a container or garbage can or a standard outdoor trash can so there is no need for bagging. Self feeds and chips up to 3 in. diameter branches, turning yard waste into useful 1/4 in. mulch. Transforms 12 bags of yard waste into 1 bag of chips. Ideal for small weekend jobs and yard clean up. Highly portable and maneuverable.

The Brush Master CH8 Chipper/Shredder is well built. For a non-commercial chipper it is surprisingly heavy duty. It is easy to use, and makes short work of tree limbs. The leaf funnel is great for smaller branches and yard debris. (Small limbs can also be bunched together and put through the limb chute). The machine is safe to use, with various features to ensure against accidental injury. The resulting chips make great mulch. The chipping process is actually fun! The only draw back is the noise, understandable with the powerful engine. Wearing hearing protection solves this issue.
The Brush Master is great. Put it together and it started on the first pull.
As discribed, been clearing out my back woods line. This has been great at breaking down saplings and small limbs, that I'd otherwise have to take the extra time and precautions to burn.
Not commercial grade, but heavy duty enough for country homeowner.
Assembly was easy (look in discharge tube. I found a big piece of packing that caused me to disassemble to correct) works great! couldn't give t rue rating on Quality as i only have a couple hours on it.. But it appears to be made of good materials and especially in important areas. Starts easy and runs strong. Use good premium gasoline and quality oil and this baby should get the big jobs done well. Get er done!
Does a good job on larger branches. I am disappointed in its ability to shred smaller branches and debris.
Brush master Great product so far runs good started on the first pull! This unit is real good on gas
Worth the price. Does a great job.
Wear ear protection because it is loud.
A great tool for the price.
Instructions for opening the shipping container are INSIDE the container. The label regarding not accepting damaged containers was obliterated. Do not try the quick start guide with the machine just out of the box. You must follow each step from the owners manual - in order - for successful assembly. Even then you will need more than a back yard mechanic level of knowledge since some things are not pictured and the instructions are lacking information. There was an extra nut loose in the flail housing and an extra sheet metal screw loose in the packaging. The holes in the plastic pieces did not line up very well. Some had been elongated for factory assembly. A lot of force was required for putting plastic parts into metal slots. Have a band aid ready. It is unclear where the "stops" are when assembling the leaf funnel. After adding oil (very important) and gas, the machine started on second pull. It will chip any branch you fit into the chute. Only put small twigs or dry leaves into the leaf funnel. Adjusting the discharge downward may cause clogging. Wear eye and ear protection and long buttoned sleeves. Once I got the machine assembled (took over an hour) it has performed well. It runs a long time on a tank of gas. Give it a break once in a while to cool down. Big branches with bends in them don't fit in the shoot very well. Lift the handle up to almost chest high when pushing the machine. With the discount it was a good buy.
Chips great. Won't accommodate twisted knarly limbs thorugh the 3-inch port. I have to pre-prune stuff to fit it through. I picked this one because the exhaust chute would put the chips straight into my trash can for distribution around the yard. Alas, the airflow is so great that the chips blow right back up our of the can and all over the place. Wish they had a mesh bag attachment that would capture the chips while allowing the air to escape.
The Brush Master CH8 Chipper Shredder is an great machine. I bought it predomnantly to shred leaves and occationally chip branches. I did have a mechanical defect in which a metal tooth that helps shred the leaves separated and caused damage to the discharge chute. Since the nearest authorized repair facility had very bad reviews on line I chose to replace the teeth and the chute myself which cost me $158. Through inspection I verified the mechanical failure as a tooth that had separated at the bend in the metal and it seemed to be precipitated by pitting and possible corrosion but it hard to verify without an electron microscope. After the replacements the machine was up and running like a charm. I do think this is a remote event but it did happen and if there had been a more creditable repair facility nearby I would have had free repairs. The service representative on the phone was actually quite helpful and the parts order was in my hands in a a matter of three days. Overall the machine is sound the rating reflects the absence of a reputable repair facility and the fact there was a material failure. I would still recommend the machine since the failure is probably a one in a thousand or more.
This chipper shredder has plenty of power and is easy to start. The leaf chute cover is a little tricky to install correctly.
