This has worked really well for my homeowner needs. I don't know what makes it a 'Commercial' chipper, but it's definitely too small for any business use. Since most people using this won't be chipping 4 inch stems or boles, this maximum is more relevant to the presence of strong side branches or forks which must either be cut off or bent together to fit in the 4 inch opening. It's not just getting it into the opening but also being pulled down to the blade which a strong side-branch can hinder. I've used this now to chip cherry, oak and buckthorn saplings (and tops) along with honeysuckle shrubs. It does self feed nicely but the smaller sizes will need some coaxing to keep them going. It definitely helps to have the hitch to pull with some type of vehicle. This is my first chipper so I wasn't familiar with changing the blade. The operators manual says use the instructions in the operators manual, but there aren't any. I finally figured it out by watching videos of similar chippers and by common sense. I have the older CH1 model that is being discontinued in favor of a newer, more expensive one. Mine was around $1200 and the newer one is around $1600. I talked to the sales rep before I bought it and they said the main difference is some upgraded internal parts. I think this upgrade was more of an excuse to increase the price as I doubt the cost of the upgrade was $400. Haven't tried it with leaves yet. The hopper will reduce smaller twigs and branches but I can understand why they say not to use it for woody material as it really yanks them down fast (once it grips) and from a safety stand point, could become an issue if something got caught in the material.

Exceeded expectations, easy to put together, motor runs great, chips like a beast, basically anything that will fit in the branch feed tube will chip, hopper on top is great for the small stuff, little branches/leaves. Very satisfied with this chipper
Very easy to assemble and then WOW can this thing chew up brush and branches. Love my new toy.
this chipper is heavy duty, more than I expected. It is a little hard to move because of the weight, a small tractor would be very helpful. It does a good job, lots of power!
First shredder I’ve ever used. But totally meets my expectations.
Unit performed as expected but should have had a caution about the violent way the flails snatch the small brush and leaves out of your hand when loaded into the funnel. Heavier gloves are needed to handle the material to be chipped because of the vibration and sudden movement in chute.
When using trailer hitch with lawn mower, it does NOT damage lawn. Really heavy put a cart under it to mover into garage. Minimal instructions. Instructions mention to tighten chipper belt loosen engine bolts and slide engine back. Have not done that yet. Chews up anything I can fit in feeder tube. Not real loud.
runs great, easy to assemble, my only issue is leaves continuously get stuck and I have to use a stick to push them into mulchers.
Tree branches need to be trimmed to fit in chute so I recommend this unit with a 4 inch diameter cutter, a chainsaw near by and lopers as you feed hopper.
Overall I was
Ok. So one weekend to using this chipper. Have about 6 ours of use so far. Overall...I give a a very positive grade. It definitely eats through 4 in branches with NO problems. Starts on one or 2 pulls. Performs very well. That being said, a couple constructive dings on this unit. The the top chute. It says, "LEAVES ONLY". I have not used it yet, since I have NO desire to mulch leaves. However, I DO have a need to chip up the small twigs and branches left over from chipping up the bigger 4in branches. I would love to just dump in these small twigs into this chute, but I guess no can do. Leave only....really?? Useless to me. So here, is the BIGGEST complaint I have. The chute where you put in the the branches is very cumbersome and restrictive. I had an older chipper and the chute opening was much wider and it was nice to insert a cluster of small branches and let it funnel down to the chipper. NOT so with this one. The entry point is only 4 inchces wide and inserting branches that are not "perfectly" straight is problematic. I found myself fighting with inserting branches...taking them out....bending down, getting my hand clipper, clipping a branch off...reinserting it, etc. VERY frustrating. So much I am tempted to drill off the protective plate. Not all branches are perfectly straight DEK, come on! Great performer overall, need to let me chip up some small debris and wide the main chute!
The power and convenance of the chipper shredder is excalent certantley well worth the price!
