Troubleshoot it first!
If you are experiencing...
WEAK SIGNAL, FROZEN PICTURE, or FEWER CHANNELS:
-
You may require a stronger antenna to be connected to your converter. According to government data at least 25% of all households require a better antenna to receive an equivalent signal as your old analog TV signal.
-
Your antenna may be good enough, but you must point your antenna in the direction of the TV broadcast tower.
-
You may have to rotate your antenna when you change channels to receive a strong enough signal for each channel.
-
Each room in your house will receive signals differently depending on furniture, walls, trees, and the surrounding terrain.
-
Signal amplifiers amplify the noise as well as the TV signal and usually cause more harm than good to digital TV signals. You may have to remove any signal amplifiers you used for analog TV viewing.
SNOWY SCREEN or BLUE SCREEN with no on-screen message:
-
Check that your TV and converter are connected, plugged into the 120V wall outlet, set to channel 3 or 4, and the wall outlet is on.
-
Scan channels without interruption. It takes 5 to 7 minutes. If you interrupt the scan, it must be repeated.
INOPERATIVE REMOTE CONTROL
BUZZING, AUDIO INTERFERENCE or BACKGROUND NOISE:
-
Turn the volume on the converter remote control to mid-range and turn the volume on your TV to mid range. If either volume control is at the maximum, while the other volume control is at the minimum setting, noise or audio distortion may occur.
-
Move your converter a short distance away from your TV. Some older TVs emit electrical noise that can interfere with your converter. Verify remote control is pointed towards the converter when pushing the buttons.
-
Connect your TV with RCA jacks (red and white), they are less susceptible to a TV’s electrical noise than the co-ax cable provided.
